CostAdjust Privacy Policy
Effective July 17, 2026
This policy explains how CostAdjust processes information when you use the CostAdjust mobile application and related services. CostAdjust is the data controller for information processed to provide the service. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to support@costadjust.com.
Information we process
- Account information: If you create an account, we process your email address, account identifiers, and sign-in information needed to create and secure your account. Guest receipt scanning does not require an account.
- Receipt information: A receipt photo you choose or capture is securely transmitted to perform the scan you requested. Raw receipt images are used transiently and are not stored long term. Parsed information can include the store, purchase date, items, prices, discounts, corrections, potential price adjustments, and claim status.
- Premium cloud data: For signed-in Premium customers, structured receipt information and price-drop alert state are stored so history and alerts can work across sessions. Guest scan results are transient and are not added to account history.
- Subscription information: Apple and RevenueCat provide product, entitlement, transaction, renewal, and expiration information. CostAdjust does not receive or store your payment-card number.
- Notifications: If you enable alerts, we process a notification token and basic device information needed to deliver notifications.
- Product analytics: We process pseudonymous information about app screens, feature interactions, result categories, subscription state, and basic app and device information to understand and improve the service. Analytics may be associated with an account identifier after sign-in. Receipt contents, email addresses, automatic touch or screen capture, and session replay are not included in these analytics events.
- Technical information: Service providers may process IP address, device and operating-system information, request metadata, and diagnostics needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot their services.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- authenticate accounts and maintain secure sessions;
- scan receipts, calculate potential price adjustments, and show results;
- provide Premium history, corrections, price-drop alerts, and cloud restore;
- verify purchases, provide subscription access, and restore eligible Apple purchases;
- send notifications you enable;
- prevent abuse, protect the service, diagnose failures, and improve product usability;
- respond to support, privacy, and legal requests.
Service providers and disclosures
We use service providers for account authentication and storage, receipt processing, subscription management, product analytics, app delivery, and notifications. These providers receive only the information needed to perform their services:
- Supabase for authentication and Premium cloud data;
- Google Cloud for receipt OCR processing;
- RevenueCat for subscription and entitlement management;
- PostHog for pseudonymous product analytics;
- Expo for application updates and push-notification infrastructure;
- Apple for App Store purchases and subscription management.
We require service providers to protect information consistently with this policy and applicable law. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, to investigate fraud or security incidents, or as part of a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards. CostAdjust does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Retention
- Raw receipt images are discarded after the requested OCR workflow and are not stored long term.
- Guest scan results remain only as needed for the current app flow.
- Premium structured receipt data, alerts, and account information are retained while the account exists and are deleted when the account is deleted.
- Local authentication tokens remain until sign-out, account deletion, expiration, or removal by the operating system.
- Product analytics are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to understand and improve the service, after which they are deleted or de-identified.
- Apple and RevenueCat purchase and transaction records may remain after CostAdjust account deletion where needed to service or restore the Apple purchase, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and meet tax, accounting, or legal obligations.
Account deletion and Apple subscriptions
Signed-in users can delete their CostAdjust account from the profile menu inside the app. Confirming deletion immediately removes the CostAdjust account and associated saved receipts, alert records, and notification registrations, and clears local authentication and cached account state.
Deleting a CostAdjust account does not cancel an Apple subscription. The app provides a Manage Apple Subscription action using Apple's subscription-management interface. Apple and RevenueCat transaction records are retained as described above so remaining eligible subscription time can be restored after a customer creates a new CostAdjust account and explicitly chooses Restore Purchase. Deleted receipt history and alerts are not restored.
If you cannot access the in-app deletion control, contact support@costadjust.com.
Your choices
- Camera, photo-library, and notification access can be changed in iOS Settings.
- You can decline notifications without losing other paid functionality.
- You can manage or cancel an Apple subscription through Apple's subscription interface.
- You can stop future collection by uninstalling the app, but uninstalling alone does not delete cloud account data.
- You can request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection where applicable by contacting support.
Legal bases and international transfers
Where applicable, CostAdjust processes information to perform its contract with you, pursue legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the service, comply with legal obligations, and obtain consent where required. Providers may process information outside your country. Where required, transfers use recognized safeguards such as adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.
Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect information, including authenticated access, encrypted network transport, access controls, and provider security features. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Children
CostAdjust is not directed to children under 13 or a higher minimum age required by local law, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. Contact support if you believe a child has provided information.
Regional privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a portable copy of personal information, and to appeal or complain to a data-protection authority. California residents may also have rights under the CCPA/CPRA. CostAdjust does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will verify and respond to requests as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will remain available at this URL.
